Re-imagined by Harrods Interiors…
As you may have already read in the November edition of British Vogue, Sarah Harris, Vogue’s Fashion Features Director had her living space re-imagined by Harrods Interiors. Spot the influences of blush pinks, botanical greens with mustard accents and slim black highlights. There is definitely an inspiration from ‘LA Confidential’/’California Suite’ in this design!

Having an initial tour of Sarah’s home, I could tell that her garden was a major feature. Every window was a mid-century style and the balcony area was full of plants. Because of this, we wanted to plan the space with the outside area as a key focal point. We also wanted to focus on continuing her living room into the garden. Our aim here was to create continuity and also make the space feel even bigger.
A Vintage Feel…
Where possible, we incorporated Sarah’s existing furniture and vintage lighting. We also converted her existing white lacquered floating cabinet into a bespoke open brass version to make it possible for Sarah to style her ornaments and frames. We also included some leafy trailing plants to further harmonize the indoor living room with the outdoor space.
Furniture & Rug Choices…
Sarah really wanted a green velvet buttoned sofa, so we took the mid-century theme, brought in brass details which we also continued onto other furniture to give it a subtle yet glamorous feel. Blush pink tones were echoed in a beautiful marble bespoke coffee table with elegant brass.
We proposed a hand-knotted Tibetan wool and silk Kelly Wearstler rug from The Rug Company. This rug has mustard accents which complimented the brass details of the proposed furniture. Through the selection of the rug, we were really able to zone off the lounge area and separate it from Sarah’s dining room.
We added some proposals for the garden area to tie the entire concept together by including an outdoor rug from Indian Ocean as well as a hand-woven Moroso side table with mustard accents.
We presented two colour schemes to Sarah, the former being a softer option in blush, grey, teal and brass which we thought Sarah might prefer, and she did!
The latter scheme was a bolder colour palette incorporating a blue polished plaster wall, a Jonathan Adler emerald green velvet buttoned corner sofa and a Patricia Urquiloa inspired statement rug in blush and blue accents.
Final Mood Board & Concept Sketch
I was delighted to hear that Sarah loved the scheme and felt that we’d really understood her while also managing to incorporate some of her existing items into the proposed concept.
Our work with Sarah truly reflects the Harrods Interiors approach – contemporary elegance with our fundamental belief in the home being both a reflection of the occupant but also of its surroundings.
